STAMFORD, Conn. – HARMAN International Industries today officially inaugurated its new Dandong Manufacturing Facility, part of HARMAN's second wave of investment plan representing additional $100 million to bolster manufacturing and research capabilities in China. In addition to customer representatives, officials from state, regional and local levels of government joined HARMAN executives for today's ceremony. HARMAN will use the facility as a manufacturing hub in the development of electronic components and audio systems for the world's leading automakers and professional audio customers.

Two manufacturing facilities will be housed within the 460,000 square feet facility, which was built specifically to meet HARMAN's global audio quality standards. The automotive factory at Dandong will produce advanced audio components and systems to meet the increasing demand from not only western and Asian automakers but Chinese automakers as well. In the past year, HARMAN has announced contracts for premium branded audio systems from Chinese automakers such as Geely Motors, BYD, and Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle. The second operation in Dandong will house manufacturing for audio electronics and loudspeakers sold under a range of HARMAN's premium brands in the Professional and Consumer sectors. China's rapid economic growth is driving investments in infrastructure, and HARMAN is playing a key role in servicing the growing requirement for world-class audio solutions at venues such as airports and rail stations, hotels, cinemas, entertainment and sporting complexes, performing arts centers, and megaprojects such as the upcoming Shanghai Disney theme park.

'We have been operating in China for more than 20 years and the opening our new facility in Dandong is another example of our long term commitment to serve our global and local customers in China,' said Dinesh C. Paliwal, the Company's Chairman, President and CEO. 'The facility in Dandong will continue HARMAN's tradition of developing products and technologies tailored for the specific needs of our customers. Dandong's robust infrastructure, skilled workforce and government support, coupled with HARMAN's technology leadership and expertise, gives us the confidence in delivering the best value in manufacturing services to our customers worldwide.'

Dandong is the fourth Chinese city to house a HARMAN facility, as the company maintains manufacturing and R&D operations in Shanghai, Suzhou and Shenzhen, and employs more than 1,200 people in China. The company's expanded investment plan follows its successful participation as a supplier and sponsor to the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, landmark audio installations at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and recent China National Day Celebration. HARMAN serves numerous automotive and professional audio customers in China, and was Platinum Sponsor for the 2011 Miss Universe China Pageant. China's legendary musician Professor Liu Huan serves as the ambassador for HARMAN's iconic JBL and Harman Kardon brands.

About HARMAN

Consumer Electronics Leader Monster Licenses aptX Audio Codec for Broad Range of Wireless Speakers and Headphones based on CSR's Wireless Audio Platforms - - CAMBRIDGE, UK and SAN JOSE, Calif. - CSR, P...

Consumer Electronics Leader Monster Licenses aptX Audio Codec for Broad Range of Wireless Speakers and Headphones based on CSR's Wireless Audio Platforms

CAMBRIDGE, UK and SAN JOSE, Calif. - CSR, Plc. (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) today announced that Monster, a global leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance headphones, connectivity solutions and A/V accessories, has signed a multi-year licensing agreement to use CSR aptX audio codec technology to help its drive into the wireless audio market with a range of high-fidelity wireless speaker and headphone products, utilizing CSR's wireless audio platforms, to be introduced in the coming months.

The initial results of this agreement, being shown this week at the IFA Berlin 2011 global trade show, include the StreamCast Bluetooth Module for the Monster ClarityHD™ Model One High Definition Multi-Media Speaker Monitors and future Monster iPod docks and wireless headphones, all of which depend on CSR aptX technology and wireless audio platforms to deliver outstanding sound quality without annoying wires for a more compelling user experience.

'These introductions represent a significant step for Monster into the wireless audio market, and the use of CSR aptX and Bluetooth wireless audio platform is instrumental in enabling us to maintain our reputation for delivering the highest quality consumer audio products,' said Noel Lee, the Head Monster. 'We believe wireless is the future of home and personal audio, and the CSR aptX audio codec is the de facto standard for retaining the full integrity of the original digital audio to enable our speaker and headphone products to provide outstanding sound.'

The Monster ClarityHD™ product line is a clear reflection of Monster's ongoing mission to create products that deliver impressive and accurate sound, with innovative features and capabilities to match. Monster products are designed to deliver the bass, the detail, and the dynamics of the sound artists and producers work hard to perfect in their studios. The high-quality Clarity HD speaker products deliver superior accuracy of sonic reproduction across all frequencies, crystal clarity, articulation and intelligibility, with a commitment to reproducing the musical intent of original source material.

'Monster is a world leading manufacturer of high-performance audio solutions, and their endorsement of our aptX audio codec is an important milestone in our efforts to establish it as the benchmark for wireless stereo audio quality in consumer electronics products,' said Anthony Murray, Senior Vice President of CSR's Home business area. 'Together with our market-leading Bluetooth stereo audio codec platforms, aptX technology offers exciting possibilities to deliver CD-quality stereo audio wirelessly to a broad range of consumer products, and is being rapidly adopted across the industry by Monster and other Tier One manufacturers.'

Although standard Bluetooth technology offers the ability to stream stereo audio wirelessly from audio devices to headphones and speakers, this bandwidth-constrained solution does not come close to the audio quality consumers have come to expect from their electronic entertainment systems. CSR aptX audio coding technology solves this problem, breaking the bandwidth barrier to deliver CD-quality stereo audio wirelessly over Bluetooth connections for a variety of consumer electronics applications.

CSR Bluetooth devices and audio platforms are at the heart of many of the world's most popular consumer electronics products, and are available in a number of highly integrated solutions featuring Bluetooth 4.0 and low energy support, wideband speech, aptX high-fidelity audio, CVC noise cancellation and other technologies for a variety of multimedia applications.
About Monster®

Monster was founded by Head Monster Noel Lee with a commitment to creating products under the Monster Cable® brand to literally 'make music sound better.' Today, Monster has grown and diversified to become the world's leading manufacturer of connectivity solutions for high-performance audio, video, car audio, computer, console and computer gaming, as well as a leading innovator in the field of iPod®, iPhone® and iPad® accessories and professional audio and sound reinforcement. As part of its commitment to improving the music listening experience, Monster worked with Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M Chairman Jimmy Iovine to create the Beats™ by Dr. Dre™ headphone line, including the Heartbeats by Lady Gaga headphones. The company is also continuing to innovate with its own line of Monster brand headphones, including 'Turbine Pro™ In-Ear Speakers™,' the first in-ear headphones geared for use by music professionals and audiophiles. Additionally, under its Monster Power® brand, the company is the leading manufacturer of high-performance AC power line conditioning and protection products for audio/video systems.

Tested by BBC during Wimbledon, Fraunhofer's new technology enables end users to adapt the volume of different audio elements within a single broadcast program. Fraunhofer IIS, the world's renowned source for audio and multimedia technologies, is previewing its new dialogue enhancement technology at IFA and IBC 2011. It allows TV and radio audiences to individually adjust the volume of dialogue, music or sound effects within a single broadcast program. Fraunhofer's technology will be the first of its kind to enable this level of audio control at the low bit-rates required for broadcasting.

Mixing the sound for broadcasting of live events, such as football or tennis, is not always an easy task due to the varying listening preference of each end user. Some sport fans would rather hear more stadium atmosphere to experience a better live feeling, while others prefer better intelligibility of the commentator's voice. To solve this issue, Fraunhofer brings control to the listener with its new dialogue enhancement technology. It will help broadcasters meet the demand for better speech intelligibility and enable radio or TV listeners to increase or decrease the volume of specific audio elements to their taste.

Recently the subject of a BBC experiment during Wimbledon 2011, the technology enabled users of a specifically designed media player to listen to Radio 5 Live's online stream and adjust the audio volume levels of the commentator or background ambience during live coverage of the match for a tailored audio experience. The user reaction was positive, with users reporting the new feature as a useful extension for broadcasting.

Fraunhofer's dialogue enhancement technology allows for highly efficient transportation of individual audio objects, such as a commentator's voice or stadium atmosphere, in a compatible mono or stereo downmix. The audio encoder receives these objects and produces a single mix, as well as a stream of parametric side information. The transmission of the mix, plus side information, is extremely bit-rate efficient, as each audio object only slightly increases the overall bitrate. The mix can be produced automatically or by a sound engineer. On the receiving side, the user is then able to adjust the volume of each object individually, to improve the intelligibility of the sports commentator.

Fraunhofer's dialogue enhancement technology is completely compatible with existing transmission and playback equipment. Devices that are not capable of decoding the parametric side information will play back the mixed audio signal.

Fraunhofer will demonstrate the dialogue enhancement technology at IFA Berlin 2-7 Sept. 2011 at the Fraunhofer booth in hall 11.1 and at IBC in Amsterdam 9-13 Sept. 2011, at the Fraunhofer booth in hall 8, B80.

— WebWireID144546 —

Computer Software

Consumer Electronics

Electronics

Music

Television

WebWire® | More Feeds

Akerlund.

The 'little black dress' was crafted using a figure-hugging fabric integrated with lighting to shape the singer's curves and move with the music - giving the performance that the singer's fans have come to expect. Showcasing a fusion of fashion, music, lighting and technology, the Philips design team worked alongside B. Akerlund, the industry's leading Stylist/Costume Designer, to construct the dress.

Speaking about the creation, Rogier van der Heide, Chief Design Officer for Philips said: 'As a brand, we seek out to work with artists from a range of different industries to evolve and revolutionise the way we use light. When Fergie challenged us to create something new for her, we wanted to design something that could bring an additional dimension to their audience and help showcase how light can further enhance experiences. What is remarkable with this dress is the way the lighting is integrated with the fabric and works in tandem with the beat of the music'.

Rogier continues: 'For us, creating this dress was not only about the aesthetics, it is about viewer experience and impact - enhancing the artist's performance through application of lighting.'

To see the pictures of the dress, visit http://www.flickr.com or click here: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20110522/NY06682

About Royal Philips Electronics

Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) is a diversified health and well-being company, focused on improving people's lives through timely innovations.
